The history behind the math that we teach

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Addition and subtraction, pictograms and pie charts, exponentials and logarithms... Yes, it’s in the curriculum. But where does it all come from? When were these concepts discovered? What prompted the discoveries? Who are the big names behind it? Come for a refreshing journey through the history and stories of the material our students learn in math classes from K to 12. (Note: Even though I teach HS math, this session has a lot of ES and MS content. It is really meant to be a fun story about math that anybody can enjoy.)

Session Objectives:

Discover the origins and processes that led to the mathematical knowledge that we teach to our kids K-12.
Travel through the history of our world through mathematical milestones.
