Issues regarding equitable education experiences and outcomes are at the forefront of educational priorities. It is a core belief at KIS that strong pedagogical practices go hand in hand with building a strong community and focusing on the growth of the whole student. There is no all-encompassing tool that can create a whole school sense of equity and community, but there are common key “look fors” that can be identified in a school community and be used to improve the overall climate of the school. The goal of this workshop will be to help educators better understand equity and inclusion within the context of their school. Through discussion and hands-on activities, this workshop will focus on identifying areas of need. Teachers will leave with the foundation to build a set of look-fors that can be used to create an equity continuum with invested stakeholders at a school.

Session Objectives:

To identify and understand barriers to an inclusive environment.
To help educators build a more inclusive, equitable school environment.
